Would MFA be interested in a AMA with someone who currently has 7+ years in fashion retail?
I’ve worked for several different fashion retail companies such as GAP, Banana Republic, H&M, and currently Calvin Klein. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in asking anything related to pricing, fits, etc.. on these brands. If anyone has any questions, let me know! 🙂

[Review] Pistol Lake – Hoodie, Sweatpants, Long-Sleeve Henley
First things first, here is the full album. apologize that they uploaded in reverse order, but that’s really only relevant for the last photo.First Thoughts: Pistol Lake is a brand that I’ve always found incredibly appealing. Their entire aesthetic has been very attractive to my eye. I’ve always found myself drawn to clothes that wouldn’t feel out of place in a workwear fit. I think Pistol Lake as a brand slots nicely in that niche, while maintaining some West Coast sensibilities and some comfy-core as well. For me, that adds to the charm. The craftsmanship was clear from the site’s photos, and from the very first time I saw the brand mentioned on this subreddit, I knew it was a brand I would want to eventually try for myself and review. If you aren’t aware of the brand, I believe I first learned about the for their henley (one of my personal favorite clothing items). I’ve always enjoy trying different brands interpretation of the circa-1800s in Europe shirt. Up to this point I’ve tried: Gap, Club Monaco, LL Bean, J. Crew, J. Crew Factory, among a few less notable others. There have been a few prior reviews of the brand on here, but after my first impressions, I feel PL deserves the utmost of praise and it spurred me to write this review. /u/wsul is the founder and occasionally active on Reddit, often taking insight from users on their next ideas. I’ve had a few great exchanges with him in the past, he’s definitely a stand-up guy.First Impressions: I woke up this morning to an email from my apartment complex that a package had arrived for me. I was extremely excited because I wasn’t expecting to get this until early next week, but apparently they use 2-day shipping, an extremely pleasant surprise. I went downstairs and picked up my package, wrapped in twine (a very nice and unique touch). Inside, the items were folded nicely and there was a nice letter from Will.I gave a quick look to the stitching on all three items, not a loose stitch to be found. Again, attention to detail and craftsmanship are very impressive. I am pretty content with my closet so any additions I make, I want them to do more than just “fill a hole” so to speak. These clothes support a nice, small business and rewards them for their meticulous quality. I call that a win-win.The Sweatpants – Being mostly in pajamas at that point already (it’s a lazy day for me), it was time to try on the sweatpants. I had 2 pairs of sweatpants at this point – a mid-weight pair from American Giant and a basic pair from my alma mater that I’ve been itching to get rid of but wanted a replacement first. They are now safely in the trash. My first impression of these sweats were how light they felt. I originally had a twinge of fear that they may be a little too light for the ever-brisk Washington, D.C. in the fall and winter. I have now worn them about 2 full hours and can comfortably (literally) say that I was incorrect. These sweatpants seem to be as warm as my American Giant pair, just lighter. Plus, the color is incredibly deep (and pretty!).Quick points:the strings around the ankles are a new experience for me. I see their usefulness, I’m just not used to them yet.I severely miss the back pocket from my American Giant sweats. It’s very useful. The elastic seems incredibly strong. Only time will tell of that, but initial impression is positive.16 oz. cotton french terry, from the website.I think I’ll really enjoy the cell phone pocket on the right side. I have an LG G3 and it fits in snugly and the button-snap stays closed. The hoodie – I work in a business environment daily, so I don’t get to wear sweats as much as I want to (especially coming from college), but they’re still some of my favorite items to wear on my off days. My hoodie/sweatshirt arsenal includes: Club Monaco, American Eagle, Todd Snyder, Left Field NYC and some less important brands. My first try-on of the hoodie showed that it included some of my favorite minor details: draw strings around the neck, a mid-sized pocket (some of my AEO sweatshirts have gigantic pockets that bother me) and a nice gusset that, at first glance, isn’t quite evenly stitched, but close enough to not bother me.Again, the french terry felt light, breathable, but like a mini-space heater around my upper body. It’s a little too warm in my apartment to wear it comfortably right now, but when I turn on the fans at night, it’ll be great. With fit in mind, I want my sweatshirts to be a big bigger without going full-on Kanye and I think this hits that sweet spot. Shoulders fit very evenly and the sweatshirt is longer than I’m used to. For reference, my Left Field NYC barely makes it to my button on my jeans, I don’t mind the additional height one bit.Quick points:The neck drawstrings are in no danger of getting stuck in sweatshirt purgatory.16 oz. french terry, as per the website. The measurements I took after they arrived (sorry for no photos) line up perfectly with the sizing guide, like literally to the hundredth of an inch. Impressive. The Henley – Now for the item that made me pull the trigger in the first place. I recently read a cool article that I can’t find that said a long-sleeve white henley under a chunky cardigan is a good fall look and I agreed. It pushed me to finally pick one up for myself. I’m a rather hairy human, so I wanted to find a henley that if worn alone, wouldn’t show off everything I’m working with in the chest area. There is a good opaqueness to the henley, especially under light, where I’ve found other henleys to reveal the most.Putting it on, I was impressed. Nice weight (6 oz., as per the website]) and 3 button placket, all good on that end. Higher armholes allow for greater mobility than some of my other henleys.Again, I think the fit is what I want. Any tighter and it may be a bit more revealing, any looser and it would probably be too big. This hits a nice sweet spot for me.Quick hits:Perfect thickness for wearing alone or layering above.I really like the raglan sleeves. The depth of the placket might be a bit of a turnoff to some (it is a bit deeper than I’m used to), once I tried it on I was pleasantly surprised. It slots somewhere between traditional crew neck and v-neck in depth. The Gift – Will actually included a free t-shirt with my order (thanks so much, /u/wsul. If you didn’t already have a new fan, you would have a new fan/repeat customer). It’s the harvest color and reminds me of what people around here call “Redskins gold”. I’m currently wearing it while watching college football. It is a nice t-shirt. My usual favorite tees are Uniqlo’s Supima cottons, but this is thicker and stitched better for sure. I think I prefer Uniqlo’s S as far as sizing goes, but this is a nice looser shirt for sure.Quick hits:I believe it’s a double-stitched neckline6 oz. cotton jersey, website.** Strength and Durability **: I’ve touched on it a bit already, but the stitching is very well done and the thickness of the garments is really solid. I’m very impressed with the quality, especially for the cost. I’ve handled worse products for much more. All of the items are incredibly comfortable and I think that’s in part due to the material: the jersey cotton is soft and not itchy and the french terry is light, soft, and strong (I’ve given the stitches a few quick tugs to test this out).I’ve determined that durability is something I value a lot in clothes. I’m not particularly rough on my clothes, but I do want to get my worth from them. Obviously, being day 1 with these items, it is impossible to judge their durability, but from what I can objectively see right now, they check the right boxes to last a long time. Plus, they’re MiUSA, something I also find relatively important. The website also promises that there will not be shrinkage after first wash, which is nice, but I can’t validate that yet either.Personal Measurements: For reference, I am 5’10 and hover around 165 and got a medium in all items. My waist is ~32″ last time I checked and I wouldn’t have wanted to go smaller than M on these sweatpants. I may have been able to make S work on the upper body stuff, but maybe I’ll try it next time.Final Thoughts: Pistol Lake makes some really great products. I now have 4 and will hopefully purchase more in the future. I really enjoy their color selection and how willing Will is to listen to his customer-base. He seems incredibly open to feedback (of which I had a few above, but nothing that would even begin to turn me off from shopping there again).I’m very excited to see what comes next for the brand and see what products they roll out next. I would love to see a heavier-weight henley/sweats in the future (I just get cold, okay?). Based on a quick look around their Facebook, it seems that they have hats and a few new colors of the [hoodies]( coming down the pipeline. I’m particularly interested in the color block idea, especially if they get a little wild with the color pairings. There’s a previous LVC (I think) season’s red and burnt orange color block sweatshirt that I’ve always found super appealing, for instance. Or something like this from Reigning Champ in sweatshirt form. Finally, again, I think based on price:quality ratio, Pistol Lake is in a league of its own. I got these four products for $170 and you’d be hard-pressed to find this for much less. Especially if you’re after a certain aesthetic like I was.Sorry for rambling and almost using all of my allotted characters, but I hope this was informative. It was my first review so I know I tended to get a bit off-topic, but please feel free to ask me any questions you might have that I didn’t cover or pictures I didn’t take. Thanks for reading!

How do you guys feel about H&M?
Since I’ve joined this sub, my style has changed drastically. Now that I have a better understanding of male fashion, I find that a lot of what appeals to me I can find in H&M. I know that the quality of their clothes isn’t top notch but I appreciate the style, especially for the price. What do you guys think?

College student with a job interview in a month and need to buy a suit. Where to buy?

College student with a job interview in a month and need to buy a suit. Where to buy?
I’m a college student that ended up landing a pretty high profile job interview that is about 4 weeks from now. Currently the only suit I own is a pretty poor fitting straight black suit so I almost definitely need to buy a new one for this interview. I’ve looked at suitsupply and like a lot of the stuff they have. There is a suitsupply about not too far from me that I could go to next weekend but that leaves me with only 3 weeks till the interview. What suggestions would you guys have? Also, what color suit would be good for an interview?

Need an alternative to American Apparel polo (“leisure”) shirts

Need an alternative to American Apparel polo (“leisure”) shirts
I need some more polo shirts to wear at work. The best ones I’ve ever found are AA Tri-Blend Leisure Shirts. They feel fantastic and the fit is perfect. Sadly, the color selection that AA has is never in stock, or just not great. They are also a bit pricy.Does anyone have any alternatives with the same fit / feel? Cheaper would be ideal, but not absolutely necessary.

Question on my APC Petit New Standard’s
Got these jeans a while ago and they’re 29″ waist with a 33.5 inseam. The waist fits about an inch loose, and the inseam is about 2 inches too long. Should I have these tailored to shorter length (I wouldn’t fix the waist) or should I sell these to someone else? Thanks everyone.
