Replacement for Banana Republic Premium Pima Stretch Cotton Crew
My favorite t-shirt of all time was the Banana Republic Premium Pima Stretch Cotton Crew (96% cotton, 4% spandex) in black, but they stopped making them a couple of years ago. The newer “undershirt” variant or “soft wash” tees are not the same. Does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative? I’m 5’9″ and 145lbs, fit and trim, but not model lean. I have my button-down shirts tailored, but haven’t tried with t-shirts (and that seems a bit extreme). On me, the small size Banana Republic shirt was trim through my torso, hit the edges of my shoulders well without looking rounded/droopy or too small, and flattered my chest. It wasn’t as tight as a “muscle fit” shirt, but wasn’t as loose as regular tees, and had a slight flattering stretch. It was also fairly thick and not too long on me. I’ve tried the following:H&M Regular Fit Crew. The small is pretty good in terms of length and width for me. There are some slight tension bands suggesting the shoulders might be a touch too narrow.H&M Slim Fit Crew. The medium is the closest I’ve found as a replacement, though it’s thinner and longer than the Banana Republic shirt and a touch looser. It also has a slightly more scooped neck.Topman Slim Fit. Medium is okay in the shoulders and neck, but torso is unflatteringly loose. Small is about right, but shoulders are a little narrow, resulting in a bit of puffing at the top of the seams.ASOS Muscle Fit Crew. Small is quite tight though possibly wearable. Medium is better, though very long and looks a bit too big.Bella+Canvas unisex crew (Redbubble). Small is okay in terms of length and torso width, but shoulder seams are too narrow. Medium is long and loose.
