LL Bean Katahdin Ironworks Boot Review
AlbumAs winter is approaching, I thought I’d share my initial thoughts on LL Bean’s Katahdin Iron Works Engineer boots. I picked these up in black, and went down a half size so they would fit perfect with wool socks.I was debating between these and the Red Wing Blacksmith, but ultimately the $110 difference pushed me towards the Iron Works. These boots are actually made by Chippewa, and are goodyear welt construction and made in the USA.I really like the look of them, and the vibram sole should give some grip when it gets colder here in Toronto. I’ve only worn them twice, but they haven’t given me any problems walking around, and should only get better as they break in.Overall I’m satisfied, and will try to do an update post in a few months if anyone is interested. On a side note, does anyone know a good place in Toronto to buy a shoe brush and leather conditioner?

I moved from one of the cloudiest places in the US to a desert and no longer have any idea what to wear.
I spent all of my life growing up in the Seattle area. Pudget Sound summers rarely crack the 90s, and fall, winter, spring ranges some where between 40-60 degrees, plus some light rain. As such, my current wardrobe consists of button ups (that I normally wear with the sleeves rolled up), sweaters, a slight selection of t-shirts, hoodies, a few pea-coats, and slim fitting jeans. Now I have moved to Los Angeles, a decision I made without realizing that the city only has one season: hot summer. Monday its going to be 100 degrees, and I’m going to spend my day next to my AC looking at Instagram photo’s of my friends bundled up at the pumpkin patches. I’ve finally grown accustomed to the heat enough to be able to wear pants on any given day, however I’m still at a loss as to what to wear up top. I’ve grown sick of wearing the same 12 cotton t-shirts, and am reluctant to buy more as I think for the most part they look pretty lazy. However I’m still not accustom to the heat enough to wear my button ups.Does anyone have suggestions for short sleeve tops that don’t look lazy and might also help me incorporate some of my PNW style into my new environment. Also, I’m not a huge fan of the short sleeve button up that seems very common here as it looks very childish to me.

I’m a fashion mess – where to start with Jeans for a skinny guy?

I’m a fashion mess – where to start with Jeans for a skinny guy?
I’m in my upper 30s and a Fashion mess. I’m interested in looking better for many reasons but have no clue where to start. I’m 6’0 and very thin, about 145lbs. I currently wear ill fitting jeans (baggy because I buy off the rack) and cheap tshirts at home and a lot of polos and button down boring shirts with Khakis at work.I figure I’ll take this one step at a time and want to first get a few nice pairs of jeans that fit properly. In the past when I buy skinny jeans or similar they really are uncomfortable for me in general and the crotch area specifically. I guess it might just be getting used to it since I’m used to baggy.Any suggestions for some nice jeans around $100 or less for someone with my skinny frame? And for someone my size is having them tailored a must? I have never really found anything off the rack that fits nicely (but I’m not even sure I know how they are supposed to fit but I’m reading up on all this).Any other fashion advice in general for someone who needs a complete makeover is all appreciated. But I really want to focus on the jeans first since I want something to go with my nice shoes I’ve started to collect. I’m just trying to figure out how to digest this all and get started without driving myself crazy.
