Waxing fabric with bees wax?
I’m sorry if this is the wrong place, but I don’t know where else to ask.I do welding jobs as a side hustle, and have a Carhartt jacket I usually wear to avoid burns etc. It’s been a rainy damn spring and I’m tired of getting soaked. I’ve read alot about waxing cotton and canvas for water proofing, but the advice seems to be all over the damn place. So do any of you have any advice before I dive in? beeswax, microcrystaline, paraffin, whatever. techniques maybe, or tips.I plan to make a new knife roll for my real job as a Chef to practice before I ruin my only work jacket.

How do these sweatshirts/sweaters fit?

How do these sweatshirts/sweaters fit?
A bunch of sweatshirts and sweaters I ordered arrived today and I really realized how much I bought. Sizing is quite inconsistent at H&M so I bought a lot hoping to return some of them.Trying them on, I realized I am unsure of how sweatshirts and sweaters should fit. Since these are all unwashed, so I expect them to shrink a bit. Here is a link to all the fits: https://imgur.com/a/PioT93BPersonally, I feel the bottom of the grey sweatshirt will ride up quite a bit (as shown) because the elastic is a bit tight. What are thoughts on that? The white/navy striped and maroon sweatshirts are basically the same size, need advice if they’re too big. Finally, I need advice on how the navy/brown striped sweater fits as I don’t usually buy sweaters and am a skinny dude.Which 2 pieces would you keep and which ones would you return? Taking into account design, colors and fit. My current wardrobe consists of grey/beige sweatshirts, black/white tees, blue and black jeans and khaki chinos so I thought I should add some color to it.

Investment Pieces v Whatevs Pieces

Investment Pieces v Whatevs Pieces
As I got caught in the rain sans umbrella, I was thankful that I had chosen to purchase a relatively cheap (< US$40) Panama hat rather than one costing hundreds of dollars. It got me thinking:What are the articles of clothing (including accessories) you are willing to seriously invest in and why? What pieces do you specifically not spend much on and why?Doesn't have to be the absolute pinnacle of quality or most expensive of the lot, but what pieces are you willing to pay more (or less) for?For me, I wear dress shoes regularly and I want them to always be in good shape so I am willing to drop a fair amount on good quality shoes. I want them to last long in rain or after a lot of use, so I'll invest in quality and in my own upkeep of them. Similarly, I tend to buy better quality pants. Umbrellas and outerwear are other things that I would pay more for knowing that I want them to last a long time.Shirts, however, are another matter. I won't buy the cheapest shirt out there but I know myself and know that if I spill anything (likely) it will be on my shirt. So what about you? What pieces do you invest in and why? What don't you want to put much money into? Why?
